These are the terms for using the Quarantine Cravings website and iPhone app. By using either, you are agreeing to them. They are short on purpose.

Food allergies and your safety

This is the part to read properly.

The AI Recipe Adapter uses a language model to suggest substitutions. NutriScan reads ingredient data from Open Food Facts, a community-maintained database. Both can be incomplete, out of date, or simply wrong. Manufacturers reformulate products without notice. An ingredient safe in one brand is not safe in another.

So: we do not tell you that anything is safe, and you should not read any part of this app as saying so. What we give you is a starting point and a list of things to check. The checking is yours to do, on the actual packaging of the actual thing you are about to eat.

Nothing here is medical or dietary advice. If an allergy is severe, talk to your doctor or a dietitian. If you think you are having an allergic reaction, seek medical help immediately.

Your account

You do not need one — everything works without it. If you make one, keep your sign-in details to yourself, and tell us if you think someone else has got into your account. You must be 13 or older to create an account.

You can delete your account at any time from Settings → Account in the app. We may suspend or remove an account that is being used to break these terms.

Recipes you adapt, and the people who wrote them

When you paste a link, we read the recipe published on that page, adapt it for you, and keep a copy of its photograph so we can show it to you without leaning on someone else's servers. The original recipe and photograph belong to whoever created them. We credit and link them everywhere an adaptation appears, and we never present their work as ours or as yours.

Please only paste links to recipes that have been published publicly. Do not use the adapter on material you are not entitled to read.

If you are a recipe creator and you would rather your recipes were not adapted here, email us and we will exclude your site. We will not argue about it.

The community page

Every adaptation you make is added to the community page. This is how the feature works rather than a setting you turn on: the point of the page is that the next person with the same allergy finds an answer somebody has already worked out. The adapter tells you this before you press the button.

What appears publicly is the adapted recipe, what it was adapted for, and the original recipe's credit. Your name and email are never shown. By using the adapter you give us permission to display your adaptations on the site and in the app.

If you do not want an adaptation to be public, delete it — that removes it from the community page and from us together. There is no way to keep a private adaptation, so please do not paste anything into the adapter that you would not want published.

Do not use the adapter to publish anything unlawful, abusive, or deliberately misleading about an allergen. We may remove anything that breaks that, without notice, because the risk is somebody else's health.

Fair use of the adapter

Each person can adapt three recipes a day, and there is a limit across the whole site each day, because every adaptation costs us money to run. Please do not try to work around those limits, script the service, or use it to bulk-copy another site's recipes.

Our recipes

The recipes we wrote are free to cook, print, and share with people you know. Please do not republish them wholesale on another site or in a product for sale without asking us first.

What we promise, and what we do not

We run this carefully but we are two people, and the service is provided as it is. We do not promise it will always be available, always be accurate, or never lose data. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for loss arising from your use of the service.

Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be excluded — and if that sentence and the previous one appear to conflict, this one wins.

Changes

We may update these terms. The date at the top will change, and if the change is significant we will tell you in the app.

Law

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction. If you are a consumer, this does not take away rights you have under the law of the country you live in.
